Living Table UCC, Minneapolis

Living Table communionLiving Table UCC is located in the Longfellow community of South Minneapolis. Rev. Dr. Rachael Keefe leads this church that has an average attendance of 65.  Living Table is four years old.  It is a merger of Minnehaha UCC, which was 104 years old, and Spirit of the Lakes, which was 26 years old.

Living Table is a vibrant, welcoming community offering true hospitality to all.  Members take seriously the mandate to be Christ’s hands and feet in the world and they are at their best when they are caring for members, friends, and strangers who are in need of a longer term spiritual home or a shorter safe harbor.  They really are about seeking justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with God.

The congregations commitment to social justice is apparent in many ways.  The church houses Asemblea de Derechos Civiles, Transgender Action Group, Slutwalk Minneapolis, Gamblers Anonymous, AA, and NAMI support groups and support their activities.  Visitors from a local LGBTIA substance abuse treatment program are welcomed on a regular basis and are offered a monthly spirituality group.  Each month there is a community meal open to all.  The weekly Bible study group enjoys meeting in a local coffee shop as a means of being out in the community and inviting others to join in.  The congregation is also building relationships with the Syrian-American community here in Minneapolis to stand in solidarity with those seeking refuge and to offer genuine friendship and welcome.  The latest, exciting opportunity is a partnership with the Sheridan Story to provide weekend meals for food insecure children at a local elementary school.

People worship at this church because it is a fun, welcoming, progressive community where worship is lively, authentic, and filled with joy and love.  If you are in the area, please stop by to visit them.  You will be welcome!
